The role of the LGBT rep is like any good sandwich: threefold.

1) College welfare: hold weekly Welfare hours in the JCR Office, providing a non-judgemental, confidential and relaxed welfare service. Email to arrange private meeting if the weekly times do not suit.

2) College events: uphold sense of LGBT community at Girton by organising college-based events. This can include formals, undergrounds in the bar etc.

3) Uni-wide link: communicate university LGBT events organised by CUSU LGBT to JCR, often via email. Includes distribution of [no definition] magazine.

CUSU LGBT is an organisation that supports students throughout the whole university, providing an extra level of support for LGBT students at Cambridge.

CUSU LGBT events stretch from welfare to socials to campaigns, including social events of all shapes and sizes. Their aim is to enable different members of the LGBT community to meet up and share views. CUSU LGBT sponsor the weekly club night “Rendezvous” on Monday evenings at The Cow (Corn Exchange Street, CB2 3QF), infamous amongst Girtonians. For something a bit quieter, weekly socials such as the Women’s Coffee meetings in Clowns, provide a more relaxed environment in which to chat and meet up.
